Dr Elizabeth Znidersic
Ecologist | Ornithologist | Founder WSOS
Dr Elizabeth (Liz) Znidersic is a post-doctoral researcher in ecology with the Gulbali Institute, Charles Sturt University. She has research interests the monitoring of secretive species, wetland ecosystem, restoration methods and island biodiversity. Liz has applied the use of advanced technological tools, such as ecoacoustics, sound recordings and motion-activated camera images with AI, to monitor and survey the health of species and populations. This has opened her eyes and ears to the world of sound.
Liz has a passion for mentoring and educating others, by passing on her experiences and learnings as an environmental scientist, ranger, and field ecologist. She is part of the Homeward Bound alumni (women in STEMM global leadership initiative) and is committed to working, supporting and encouraging other women towards a sustainable planet. Liz strongly believes in the strength of collaborations, particularly cross-disciplinary approaches and the knowledge shared by our Traditional Custodians. It is in her deep love of ecology that sees herself supporting people within their communities for their personal well-being and that of the planet.
